ABRASIVE WHEELS SYLLABUS
The training is intended for Operatives/Supervisors who use portable tools where changing wheels is necessary.
The overall aim is to provide training to comply with the Provision and Use of work Equipment Regulations 1998 in the safe mounting of abrasive wheels and discs on portable machinery.
The training objectives are to ensure that at the end of the training delegates will be able to:
State the hazards associated with the use of abrasive wheels and the precautions necessary to overcome the stated hazards.
With reference to BSEN 12413 and BS ISO525 (marking of abrasive wheels) identify different abrasive wheel codes and their meanings in relation to the nature of abrasive, grain size, hardness and bond type.
State the approved method of storing and handling various abrasive wheels.
Demonstrate the approved method of inspection and testing various abrasive wheels.
Demonstrate the approved method of mounting an abrasive wheel on a portable machine.
